Former president Olusegun Obasanjo’s house in Abeokuta was gutted by fire, reportedly caused by a power surge. This happened in the late hours of Wednesday, February 12 .
The state’s fire service confirmed the incident, noting that the fire only affected a store, not the main building.
According to The Nation, the house which is located at Ita-Eko area of Abeokuta was gutted by fire about 9.30pm.
Residents of the area reportedly joined the former president’s domestic workers to help in putting out the fire in an exercise which lasts for almost an hour.
