Fatima Kazeem, stylish and energetic Nigerian female barber is one of the best barbers in South Africa.
She is said to have been awarded Sobret Man Barber of the Year about three consecutive times. She only lost the first position in the last award ceremony.
Kazeem’s achievement is a rare feat in South Africa, as Nigerian women are always in the background – except for the visible ones who are in the beauty industry – working primarily as barbers and stylist.
Kazeem is not the only Nigerian barber doing well; Debo, a Nigerian guy is another prolific barber in the Sobret franchise. Debo has come second many times. He only came third in the last award ceremony.
Another good Nigerian barber in South Africa is Risikat Oluwatoyin Odunayo. She has always been in the top 10. She is in Sobret at the Menlyn Mall. Kazeem and Debo are both at the Sobret in Sandton
Many Nigerians love to work at Sobret because of the professionalism and good staff care policy Sobret offers.
Barbing and styling of hair are part of the major jobs Nigerians do in South Africa.
Sobret deserves a thumbs-up as they provide training for most of the stylist and then hire them. Many of them were not stylists and barbers when they left Nigeria.
A Nigerian technologist with Circuit Solution says:”We that are doing other jobs envy them because they live averagely well”.
A Nigerian stylist in Randburg says: “People in South Africa will not see this that Nigerians are hard working and doing well. They always lie that people are taking their jobs. They will say foreigners are hired because they paid them peanuts. People in Sobret are not paid peanuts. They work alongside other South Africans and the South Africans testify that Nigerians are hard working”
