Losing Lerato, a South African film released on 13 September 2019, has won six international awards at this year Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema held in California in the United States on the 15th March 2020.
The Idyllwild International Festival Of Cinema is dedicated to showcasing emerging filmmakers and producers giving them opportunity to connect with industry professionals, advance and promote their work in motion pictures.
Losing Lerato is a beautifully told South African action/thriller about a successful young black man who takes matters into his own hands by kidnapping his daughter after life, the law and the woman he once loved separate them.
The film which was directed by Sanele Zulu starred actor Kagiso Modupe and his daughter Tshimillo Modupe who plays the role of his daughter in the film. Best Actress Feature was won by Samela Tyelboo.
Kagiso Modupe won the award for Best Actor feature category. Tshimollo won the Best Child Performance award.
The film also won the Best Original Score, Golden Era Humanitarian Narrative and Festival Favourite awards.
Produced by Kagiso Modupe, the film has also enjoyed success at the box office locally before international glory.
