The attack took place in the fishing village of Msambweni in Kwale county, an area on the coast popular with tourists because of its sandy, white beaches.
Media report in Kenya says the man was ambushed on his way home by the youth around 21:00 local time after he had been out drinking.
There are currently seven cases of coronavirus in Kenya.
There are strict travel restrictions on foreigners – learning institutions and public gatherings are being banned in the country.
