King Maha Vajiralongkorn, also known as Rama X booked out all of the Grand Hotel Sonnenbichl in Bavaria, Germany to self-isolate with a harem of twenty women during the coronavirus pandemic.
The 67-year-old king booked out all of the Grand Hotel Sonnenbichl in Bavaria after getting the special permission from local officials.
Whilst the King plans to party away during this time of coronavirus crisis, he however sent 119 members of the royal entourage back to Thailand amid concerns they might have contracted Covid-19.
Though hotels in the region were ordered to close to curb the spread of Covid-19 but the Grand Hotel Sonnenbichl was an exception because “the guests are a single, homogenous group of people with no fluctuation”.
Reports back home in Thailand say thousands of Thai people risked breaking country’s law in a social media protest against the king.
Under the anachronistic laws, anyone who despises or insults the monarchy faces up to 15 years behind bars.
Meanwhile, a trending hashtag which translated to ‘Why do we need a king?’ had 1.2 million hits on Twitter within a day of news breaking the flamboyant King was having an orgy in Germany whilst his kingdom is under the threat of coronavirus.
Many people wonder why the King would be so insensitive to self-isolate with twenty women when the world is groaning under the destructive of coronavirus.
That is one of the demerits of dictatorship, i guess. The King’s words are laws and divine.
He born 28 on July 1952 and has been King of Thailand since 2016.
He is the only son of King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit and became crown prince at the age of 20.
His father died on 13 October 2016 – he mourned for about three months and accepted the throne on the night of 1 December 2016.
He is the tenth monarch of the Chakri dynasty traditionally styled as Rama X. Vajiralongkorn became the oldest Thai monarch to ascend to the throne at the ripe age of 64.
After three divorces, Vajiralongkorn married Suthida Tidjai, former acting commander of Royal Thai Aide-de-Camp Department.
