The post did not incur the wrath of Nigerians but the video JJC threw out with reckless audacity.
Following the video’s release, angry Nigerians are calling for the arrest of the actress and her husband for their “insensitivity and thoughtlessness.”
THE PARTY VIDEO
President Muhammadu Buhari announced a lockdown last Sunday in Lagos, Ogun and Abuja in a bid to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus – hence social distancing becomes the norm.
Many now wonder why Funke Akindele, brand ambassador for Dettol and a major driver of the Clean Naija initiative would be acting in manner that promotes unhealthy lifestyle.
The Dettol campaign initiative, which she is the ambassador for aims to create awareness, educate and drive behavioural change among Nigerians in order to achieve a cleaner nation through the continuous habit of hand-washing.
Since the outbreak of coronavirus, she has appeared on adverts campaigning for people to keep good hygiene through regular washing of hands,
Her house party is largely seen as a sign of irresponsibility and hypocrisy – she’s all about the money – she doesn’t believe in what she claims to stand for – that’s the treading thoughts about her for now.
FUNKE AKINDELE ARRESTED
Many Nigerians commend the fair move of members the Lagos State Police Command for arresting popular actress, Funke Akindele, for allegedly hosting a birthday party at her home in Ibeju-Lekki during coronavirus lockdown.
Lagos State Police spokesman, Bala Elkana said in a statement that: “Attention of Lagos State Police Command was drawn to a viral video showing a large number of persons mainly in the entertainment industry in an Estate, along Ajah, Ibeju-Lekki axis, Lagos celebrating a birthday party organised by Funke Akindele Bello and her husband,”
The police detectives from the State CID Yaba were promptly drafted to the location and Funke Akindele was arrested.
Reports confirm that investigation is ongoing and efforts are being intensified to arrest the remaining persons in the video, among whom are Azeez Fashola a.k.a Naira Marley and Abdul Rasheed Bello a.k.a. JJC Skillz.
“They are in their best interests urged to report at the State CID Yaba on Monday 6th April, 2020 or risk being declared wanted.”
However, reports are not clear if the actress is still in police custody, released or charged to court.
The social media is full of commendations for the police for not being ‘star-struck’ or unfair, by favouring the celebrity in this matter.
Others express their disappointments at The Akindele’s behaviour as they are top societal role models who should lead by example.
