Jailed Nollywood Actor’s Dad Gets Presidential Pardon after 34 years

Top Nollywood actor’s father was given a Presidential Pardon by President Muhammadu Buhari for his role in a coup in Nigeria 34 years ago – the handsome actor celebrates the pardon with a contagious glee.

Lieutenant colonel Moses Effiong was among the officers arrested over an attempted coup on the then military-led administration of General Ibrahim Babangida in 1985.

Etim is super-elated about his father’s freedom and change of status.

THE COLONEL IS BACK! IN 1986 my Father was convicted and sentenced to life in prison for concealment of treason in the Vatsa Coup against the IBB government. Although he was released in 1993, it wasn’t made official and his rank and entitlements were not restored. Today 34 years later, he has officially received his presidential pardon. 🙏🏾🙌🏾 ✊🏾🇳🇬#FAITHFULGOD #NEVERGIVEUP #JESUSISALIVE

Lt Col Moses Effiong was among the five Nigerians granted presidential pardon by President Muhammadu Buhari recently.

His was released in 1993 but it wasn’t made official and his rank and entitlements were not restored.

But 34 years later, mercy has spoken and grace has showed up. He has officially received his presidential pardon.
