As the world still grapples with the ravaging destruction and disruption of lives by Covid-19, a series of mysterious death has hit Kano State in northern Nigeria, killing people in their hundreds.
Prominent indigenes of the state have bowed to this strange and untameable disease. The disease kills on a daily basis.
There are accusations that the governor of the state Alhaji Umar is not doing enough but rather pressuring the Federal Government for 15 billion Naira to fight Covid-19. A presidential visit is imminent in the state and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) cry for investigation into the matter. There are conflicting reports on the cause of the deaths.
Recent reports confirm that the deaths are not majorly related to the coronavirus pandemic but much more due to panic, hunger, hypertension and diabetes. However, some medical experts disagree that the causes being put forward are not medically tenable – proper investigation and diagnosis need to be done.
