Nigerian Meals To Avoid Consuming At Night

As they say food is life.. But at times we need to be careful of we eat especially at night.It’s important to know the right kind of meals to eat at every single time of the day.

Nevertheless, food is not bad and contrary to people’s belief and eating late at night doesn’t necessarily make one gain weight but the calorie content in these meals are actually what makes extra kilos. Here are meals not to be eaten at night:

1. Pounded yam

Pounded yam, like any other energy-giving food, is best taken in the afternoon when you need all the energy required for your daily running around and activities.

Eating this meal late at night it’s not a good idea because it makes you feel heavy and it converts all the energy that the food is supposed to release into the body to fats and stores them in the adipose tissue for use later, adding some more weight.

2. Chocolate and other sugary foods

Well, chocolate isn’t a filling snack. Sugary foods have the same effect as the energy-giving foods, just because you want to eat light and decide to snack doesn’t mean you should option for those extremely sugary snacks.

3. Fries

Like we all know, the oil content presented in fried food, it’s not advisable to eat at night because they’re high in calories and fat, and they also weigh on your stomach and take a while to digest, leaving you feeling tired and sluggish in the morning. And they also curse heartburn.

4. Pasta

Pasta should not be consumed at night because it’s a fatty food that will certainly lead to weight gain while you sleep. The carbohydrates in pasta turn to fat pretty quickly, so if you’re trying to eat healthy at night pasta should be out of your eating list.

5. Bread

It contains a lot of carbohydrate and sugar that spikes up your blood sugar levels, causing your energy levels to rise disrupting your sleep in the process.

There is also a chance that you will likely wake up starving a few hours later or in the morning due to the overproduction of insulin the sugar triggers.

keeping yourself healthy, stay away from calories at night and have a healthy balanced lifestyle.
