A few weeks after star musician and actor Banky W remarked that Eba is greater than Pounded yam, Semo and Amala. His wife also a Nollywood actress Adesua Etomi has got tongues wagging after her comment about a popular south-west Nigeria soup Gbegiri .
Categorizing the soup as trash, Adesua says she was pressurised by her peers to eat the Gbegiri soup but now she has made up her mind to start eating amala without Gbegiri soup.
I’ve decided that gbegiri is trash. Peer pressure made me eat it with my amala but I have grown as an individual and now I know without a shadow of a doubt that I prefer my amala with ewedu and fried peppery stew.

Best enjoyed with the staple food called Amala, Gbegiri is a very popular Yoruba soup.
The soup, made from beans and often eaten together with the jute soup locally called ewedu.
A large population of the Yoruba people can’t eat amala and ewedu without having Gbegiri with it. Hence, it came as a surprise why Adesua, the Benin born wife of a Yoruba man will label it trash.
