President Donald Trump yesterday classified churches, mosques, and other places of worship as essential services and called on local officials in the United States of America (USA) to reopen churches and other places of worship from this weekend.
He wondered why some governors in American states deem liquor stores and abortion places as essential yet saying places of worship are not essential.
“I call on governors to allow our places of worship right now. These are places that hold our society together and keep our people united. People are demanding to go to their churches and synagogues and to go to their mosques. Many millions of Americans embrace worship as an essential part of life. The ministers, pastors, rabbis, imams will make sure that their congregations are safe as they gather and pray”, he said in his broadcast.
TRUMP’S DECLARATION OF CHURCH, MOSQUE AS ESSENTIAL SERVICES
Trump vouched for the religious leaders that they love their people and won’t allow harm to befall them. “The governors need to do the right thing and allow these essential places to open, right now, this weekend. If they don’t do it, I will over-ride the governors”.
He preached that America needs more prayer and not less.
Trump’s stance validates that of Bishop David Oyedepo of Winners Chapel in Nigeria who decried why Nigeria opened market places and closed churches.
The founder of Living Faith Worldwide was against the eased lockdown rules which allow markets to operate but prevent congregations to operate.

Meanwhile Pastor Tunde Bakare of the Citadel Global Community Church popular called Latter Rain Assembly rebuked the servants of God who are criticising the government over the closure of churches amid the Covid-19 outbreak and told them to offer their churches as isolation centers.
Bakare Attacks Oyedepo & Oyakhilome To Give Their Churches as Isolation Centers To Government
Upon Trump’s declaration, which may hopefully lead to the opening of churches and other places of worship in US this weekend, many Nigerians drag Pastor Bakare to the mud for insulting men of God who championed the cause of church opening amid the pandemic.
Endurance Eghbamien said (to Pastor Bakare): “The church is a place were people get healing, a place of power, not an isolation center. God forbid. Sir I’ll advise you to turn your church to a miracle center by healing all those currently isolated now because that is what God sent you to do.”
“You (Pastor Bakare) have lost your respect. Buhari your friend is ruining Nigeria, but you were quick to attack Jonathan. Shame to you,” Nna Eke on SaharaTV on Youtube.
Kolawole Isaac said: “Pastor Bakare, u talk too much, do ur donation and go ur way. Many churches have donated many things to the government but they didn’t dictate to other churches. So give whatever you are giving to government and go ur way.”
