Top and one of the most durable Nollywood actors, Chief Pete Edochie is using utter silence in the face of a strong allegation of infidelity to confuse many people.
A viral clip from a Nigerian gospel singer said Edochie is the singer’s dad, obviously from a side-chick or a one-night stand.
Many wonder why the gentleman decides to let the cat out of the bag now as he is obviously above twenty years. The guy in the clip looks mature as he also posed in a picture with his ‘dad’.
Edochie’s silence confirms the claim to a great extent as the vocal actor would not take such nonsense accusation if it were a lie.
Kingsley Abasili (why is the surname not Edochie) has made wild claims that Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie is his father.
Abasili has lots of people who believe his claims as the resemblance between the Veteran actor and the alleged son seems striking. The head shape and the nose sit well together.
Abasili tweeted: “Stop asking me, please. Yes, Pete Edochie is my Dad. Go ahead and ask him when you meet him! #CuriousJournalists”
Many fans also expect Yul Edochie, Pete Edochie’s vocal son to have reacted to the matter but he has not spoken yet as at press time.
As at the time of publishing, we have not found the said viral clip but found a clip where Abasili says Chief Edochie is his favourite Nollywood actor.
Chief Edochie is considered one of Africa’s most talented actors and has been honored with an Industry Merit Award by Africa Magic and Lifetime Achievement by Africa Film Academy.
Other than acting, he is a seasoned administrator and broadcaster who had a favour with stardom in the 1980s when he played the lead role of Okonkwo in a Nigerian Television Authority’s (NTA) adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s all-time best-selling novel, Things Fall Apart.
The staunch Catholic was also honoured with the title of Member of the Order of the Niger by President Olusegun Obasanjo.
There is hardly any actor of his age who may have appeared in more movies than him.
