The United States of America (USA) embassy in Tanzania issued a fresh travel advisory for American citizens regarding the coronavirus pandemic in the country but gave no evidence to support its claims.
Meanwhile, Tanzania’s health minister, Ummy Mwalimu said Covid-19 rate in the country is going down. The minister said Dar es Salaam has only four active cases.
The minister said God had spared Tanzania from the pandemic.
But a statement by the U.S embassy suggested that the risk of contracting the virus in the commercial hub, Dar es Salaam remains high, saying Americans should avoid socialising and leaving their homes.
The embassy premised its argument on the fact that healthcare facilities in Tanzania can become quickly overwhelmed in a healthcare crisis.
However, some students in Tanzania are heading back to high schools and colleges for the first time in about two months.
But the government said they will have to follow strict guidelines to ensure their safety from coronavirus.
