Nigerian Police Chief, Mohammed Adamu says ‘one woma is raped in Nigeria every five hours’, deducing his statistics from 717 rapes committed in Nigeria between January and May this year.
A few of the recent victims were allegedly murdered after being raped.
He told journalists after meeting President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential palace in Abuja that rape is as a serious and wicked offence and urged Nigerians to report any case. 799 suspects had been arrested and 631 had appeared in court.
