The dead body of a three-year-old girl was found dumped in a field in Orange Farm, south of Johannesburg and police spokesperson, Captain Kay Makhubele, said it was a passerby who had been collecting plastic waste that discovered the body.
People were seen crying and wailing profusely at a place believed to be the scene of the crime.
The eyewitness noticed the body of a three-year old girl in a plastic bin and called the police.
Police investigations revealed that the child had died as a result of a stab wound to her upper body.
Reports confirmed that the child had been reported missing on June 17 in Orange Farm.
As at press time, no arrests have been made as the nation is gripped with fear and terror just a few days after President Cyril Ramaphosa urged the nation and all stakeholders to be committed towards fighting Gender Based Violence and every form of violence in the country.
The police have opened a case of murder and investigation has begun.
