The Kambari tribe in northern Nigeria is not part of our ‘civilised’ world as they go about naked and travel by donkey and are not ashamed of it.
Nudity does not attract women to men or vice versa among them.
This tribe is largely agrarian and self sufficient and even supply neighbouring towns with corn, millet, beans, millet and other farm produce. The rich among them have cattle while others keep chicken and goats.
They are not Christians or muslims but they are pagans who also believe in Witch-craft and their god is called Magiro.
They are aloof, reserved and independent of the Nigerian government and ‘people’.
This tribe is in a remote community in Birnin Amina in Rijau Local Government Area in Niger state.
They choose to distance themselves from mainstream lifestyle in Nigeria and the people are oblivious of them.
Their communal lifestyle thrives on intra-interaction among them in small communities but only relate with other people when they to go the farm and market.
Nudity is not a shameful among them but rather a pride-point they hold in high esteem.
The women cover the bottom half of their bodies with wrappers while the men do the same when they are at the market.
They travel far and wide within their domain using donkeys.
They celebrate marriage by slaughtering goats and cows for food. The parents of the bride cook food for the groom and the marriage is sealed once the food is eaten.
The are headed by a chief who disclosed that men are attracted by women’s hair, good manners and artistic tatoos of the women.
However, in all the pictures of the tribe available online, we only saw naked women and not one naked man.
Perhaps it is only the women that live naked among the Kambari people.
