Zambian hip-hop star, Chanda Mbao, is ‘lit’ and lighting Africa with his music.
Mbao is on a mission to use music to unite the continent, using his Zambian culture as the canvas on which ‘he paints his music’.
Form 2012, in Miami in the United States of America (USA), the prolific MC has steadily built a career that has taken him across the world.
He has topped music charts in Zambia and the Southern African.
The Patriot, his mixtape announced him loudly but but it was the release of Wave featuring R&B talent, Scott, one year later that made him a brand that Africa craves.
The track is a classic throwback to the late 90s and early 2000s collaborations between rappers and singers where the latter brings fluidity and the former brings structure allowing the song to create an eclectic ambience.
Wave – an anthemic hook and easily digestible bars – goes viral in Southern Africa and Mbao now sojourns further to other parts of the continent.
Wave birth The Bigger Wave – a collaboration with South African and Mozambican heavyweights Da L.E.S and Laylizzy.
In the final version The Final Wave Mbao featured Skales, maximising the grace of collaboration across the continent.
