A top member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo state, Honourable Samson Osagie, alleged that Governor Godwin Obaseki betrayed the APC as he had started the process of joining the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) two years ago.
Osagie said the governor’s defection to the PDP did not come as a surprise to him because he got wind of his betrayal about two years ago.
The former minority whip in the House of Representatives disclosed this when responding to questions from journalists at the APC national secretariat in Abuja yesterday, June 30.
Osagia revealed further that he knows the governor (and his betrayal tendencies) well and that members of Obaseki’s family had warned that his candidature will be a disaster.
His comment was intended to disprove the governor’s claim that he joined the PDP late.
Governor Obaseki had declared that he should have joined the PDP long before he did, saying he realised late that the PDP stood for the values he so much cherished and lived for.
In his words, Osagie said: “That he went to the PDP did not come as a surprise for us. So, he hated members of his own political party. Even those who work for him very seriously during the primaries and those who did not support people like us never supported him during his primaries. But we voted for the party elections because we are party men”
