Dumisani, a young man who roams the Randburg Central Business District (CBD) in northern Johannesburg was allegedly stabbed multiple times around and the chest area and set ablaze in the middle of the night on Saturday.
A Nigerian source who knew Dumisani well said he was killed by fellow street kids who believed he often obstructed them when they intend to steal from African immigrant’s businesses and cars.
Dumisani loved ‘his African brothers’ and this has cost him life according to words on the street.
He had been living in a rickety and abandoned car opposite Rainy Hill – a tall building opposite the Randburg traffic department in Randburg.
A security officer who witnessed the incident said he suddenly saw flame that was accompanied by a noise when the fire blazed forth.
A member of Dumisani family confirmed he was stabbed from the results of the autopsy report.
Killing of ‘street-kids’ is rife in Randburg but many suggest rivalry amongst them is one the most popular causes.
On Monday, some members of Dumisani’s family were seen crying at the spot where he used to sleep in an abandoned car.
One of the most popular Nigerian traders around Randburg CBD, Ken said”I’ve not been myself since this incidence happened. That guy is a good guy. He came to me recently and said, Boss, the weather is cold, I need something and I gave him R20″.
The incident took place at a park space beside Cambridge store in Randburg and those who knew Dumisani mourn his loss.
