John Legend (41) admitted he was ‘dishonest and selfish’ in his past relationships before he met his wife Chrissy Teigen.
He humbly revealed his ‘unfaithful sexcapades’ while speaking about relationships with Dax Shepard in his podcast, Armchair Expert.
The EGOT ( Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Awards) winner said:
The multi-award wining singer said he thought his cheating was partly due to not having enough relationship with girls when he was young: “I think what happened for me, you go through a lot of your life in your teens and I was younger than everybody in high school and college, and so I just didn’t get a lot of girls,” Legend said of having girlfriends. “When I started to get that attention, I loved it.”
He said he had been cheating before he hit the limelight though he wanted to escape ‘cheating technically’ by keeping my relationship ill-defined but admitted “it was really cheating”.
Legend may have turned a new leaf when he met Teigen and married her in 2013.
It was like love at first sight, if anything like that exist as they hit it off right away and had sex the first night they met.
He also disclosed that they were both seeing other people at the time but fell in love not long after they met.
He confessed further: “At a certain point, you just realize you’re happier being honest. You’re happier being faithful and being in love with one person. At a certain point, I just decided that person was Chrissy. I decided I wasn’t gonna mess with somebody else anymore.”
We’ve talked about it before, but we had sex the first night and hit it off. We were both seeing other people at the time. There was kind of a looseness at the very beginning, but we fell in love not long after that.”
When asked about whether he feels pressure considering he and Teigen are celebrated as couple goals in pop culture, Legend responds:
He concluded by expressing genuine fear not to mess around this time. “I feel like it almost makes it less likely that I would do anything to f–k it up. Chrissy has 12 million Twitter followers. If I were to do anything, it would be career suicide,” he said. “It would be terrible. It just gives you another reason to not f–k it up.”
The couple has two kids, 4-year-old daughter, Luna, and 2-year-old son, Miles.
