In a 56 minutes, 24 seconds album tagged “StandOut” that emits creativity, danceable beat, rhythm and blended with his usual ‘vulgar style, Abass Akande Obesere, Agba Akin Bobagunwa rebukes Alafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III for installing King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal 1 as Mayegun of Yorubaland.
In a subtle and wise message (not naming anyone though), Obesere advocates that Alafin of Oyo and other Kings should make appropriate spiritual and cultural consultations before giving out chieftaincy title in Yoruba land.
He advised they ask the ‘land’ and the Ifa Oracle before installing people, especially celebrities and socialites as chiefs.
StandOut is a mega hit from Obesere. The album is lit and dope like his American Faaji album released about two decades ago.
Abass Akanda advised Kings in Yorubaland to enquire if a man to be given a chieftaincy title to investigate if the behavioural pattern of the prospective chief is in concert with the title to be given.
He asked if someone who is installed as Mayegun (obviously referring to KWAM1) has attitudinal structures and pedigree that befits the office he is ‘en-titled’.
In the blunt yet subtle admonition, he pleaded with the royal fathers to accepts his ‘rebuke’ if it’s the truth and to forgive him, it his words come across as impolite.
He went further to state that KWAM1 begged from palace to palace for about 11 years to get a chieftaincy title – apparently because KWAM1 was jealous of him, who has plenty honourable chieftaincy titles.
Obesere also revealed that the installation of KWAM1 as Mayegun in Oyo land brewed disaster and a bad omen in the land as a major market caught fire on the said day.
King Wasiu Ayinde has come under intense criticism and fire since he was installed Mayegun in January this year.

Alafin of Oyo also shared in the criticism as some critics call the referred monarch to order for instanlling KWAM1 as Mayegun. Critics argued that KWAM1 was not qualified for the title and that Alafin should have made him Mayegun of Oyo Kingdom.
Alafin of Oyo’s camp replied critics that the King, by virtue of the realm, rights and privileges of his throne could install anyone he deems fit title in and for Yorubaland.
The Ife camp, who roots for Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II believes Alafin crossed the line as a title for Yorubaland could only be given from Ile Ife by the present monarch, Oba Ogunwusi.
Also, those who follow the history of the feud between Obesere and KWAM1 dismiss the his criticism of Alafin installing KWAM1 as a product of sheer jealousy and laden with relics of biter feud.
Obesere’s STANDOUT is a sure come back among other hits he’s had – STANDOUT has a Midas touch.
