Two policemen connected to the a former governor of Edo State in Nigeria, Adams Oshiomhole, died on Tuesday the 1st of September 2020, while two others were in critical condition this happened when a car allegedly lost control and ran into Adam Oshiomhole’s convoy of cars near Oluku junction in the Ovia North-East local Government of the state, Nigeria.
Adams Oshiomhole was on his way to Usen, Nigeria, to join the All Progressives Congress campaign train when the accident happened.
This incident made the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the 19th of September Governorship Election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, call off his rally in Usen, Nigeria.
A statement by Adams Oshiomhole media team said the accident occurred at 12:01.
The convoy was headed to Usen Community in Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria, where Comrade Adams Oshiomhole was supposed to appear at a campaign rally with Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in the 19th of September 2020 election in the state.
This was when a trailer driving in the same direction went off its course, hit the back-up Toyota Hilux with seven policemen.
This then forced it off the road into the bush and rammed into the Sports Utility car with Comrade Adams Oshiomhole inside, causing some damage. The team said that they felt there was more to the accident.
Eyewitnesses suggest, and the team believes, that this was an assassination attempt targeting Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
In another statement by the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Media Campaign Council, John Mayaki, the campaign stated that it was suspending the scheduled event to honour the dead.
On behalf of Pastor Ize-Iyamu and the All Progressives Congress, John Mayaki sent his condolences to the families of the victims, stating that the campaign would do everything within its power to help their grief.
Meanwhile, the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has condoled with Adams Oshiomhole and Ize-Iyamu, over the accident.
