African leading female singer, Tiwa Savage broke down into tears as she recounted her poor past whilst in New York in the United States of America.
She thankfully revealed she once lived from hand to mouth in a shelter meant for poor people with drug addiction-related issues in New York.
The now ‘ace-afro-pop star’ said this during a surprise party just for 20 guests organised by her friends to celebrate her latest album Celia.
Don’t be too sure tears won’t drop down from your eyes as you watch the video beneath.
TIWA CRIES AND MAKES AFRICA CRIES
The Instagram video is trailed by emotional statements that Tiwa’s humble background has given people the courage to forge ahead in life regardless of how touch the circumstances might be.
Tiwa, the acclaim queen of afrobeats and Nigeria’s very own, recently dropped Celia—her first body of work to come out on Motown Records about a week ago.
The 13-track project, which she titled in tribute to her mother, features border-crossing collaborations including the likes of Sam Smith, Stefflon Don, Davido, Naira Marley, Hamzaa, and more—pointing towards the effort of artists coming out of the African continent to have global appeal.
She emphasises she’s here to stay with this album.
