A car that has not been identified has snatched and killed a pregnant woman and a motorcycle rider while trying to escape with a Peugeot car that has been said to belong to a man named Martin in Isselu-Uku in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria.
The incident happened around 18:00 on Sunday, the 6th of September 2020, and claimed the lives of the pregnant woman and the motorcyclist.
The owner of the stolen car stated that he wanted to go to Asaba therefore he decided to get one or two passengers.
He left the key in the ignition because he did not go far, before he could know what was happening somebody jumped into his car and sped off.
He went on to state that the person who took the car ran into an okada (motorcycle taxi) man who carried a pregnant woman and they died on the spot.
When he got to the scene he found out that the man who tried to steal his car was a Fulani man.
Lastly he stated that when people went to the scene to see they saw the pregnant woman and the okada man already dead and they pounced on Fulani man before police rescued him.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Deputy Superintendent of Police Onome Onovwakpoyeya, stated that she was still to find out details about the incident.
A police source, however, stated that the suspect had been arrested but receiving treatment in hospital
