Lupita Nyong’o shared a moving message to her “Black Panther” co-star and friend, Chadwick Boseman, who passed away on the 28th of August 2020 at 43-years-old from colon cancer.
Lupita Nyong’o posted a photo of herself and Chadwick Boseman laughing, with a caption that stated it was for the beloved Chadwick Boseman and a hashtag “#TakeYourTimeButDontWasteYourTime.
This was the first time she spoke publically about the death of Chadwick Boseman.
She stated that she wrote the caption from a place of hopelessness in order to honour a man who had great hope, she said she is struggling to speak about him in the past tense because it does not make sense and the news is a punch to her gut every morning.
She went on to state that she felt that Chadwick Boseman was meant to be immortal because he seemed as though he had existed before and he was exactly where he was supposed to be.
Lupita Nyong’o remembered working with Chadwick Boseman on 2018’s “Black Panther”, she described that she was in awe because of his powerful presence.
In the Marvel movie Lupita Nyong’o played “Nakia” who was the love interest of Chadwick Boseman who played T’Challa.
She stated that he knew how to manage his time but never rushed anything and she did not know him for a long time but he had a great effect on her.
She praised the positive environment he created on set, and said that Chadwick Boseman did his own stunts and used his body in every possible way he could.
She went on to say that being around him made her want to be better, less petty, and more purposeful and ended her message by ooffering her condolences to Chadwick Boseman’s friends, family, and wife, whos name is Simone.
