King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal 1 (KWAM1) was accused of assaulting Mr. Wole Sorunke, a media broadcaster in Ogun state, popularly known as MC Murphy. There have also been appeals to the Alaafin of Oyo, to strip the Fuji crooner of the title he bestowed on him.
It is alleged that the reported incident happened during the 60th birthday party of the Olu of Itori where the duo met after both were scheduled to perform separate functions at the occasion.
Reports state that MC Murphy accused K1 of assaulting him with the aid of his boys. He said he was beaten mercilessly and showed evidence of the assault to journalists.
MC Murphy showed swollen cheeks and blistered lips, insisting he doesn’t want the matter being ignored.
While speaking to journalists, he said the issue started when he took a client onto the stage with him to be eulogised by K1, but to his surprise, he and his client were ignored by the Fuji artiste and they both left the stage.
There has been a widespread reaction from several quarters over the alleged incident.
Broadcasters under the auspices of Freelance and Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria have released a statement where they condemned KWAM1’s actions on the incident.
The president of FIBAN , Mr. Desmond Nwachukwu, expressed his disappointment in the conduct of the Fuji star, “saying the act was unbecoming of someone holding the title of ‘Maiyegun of Yorubaland”.
Meanwhile, K1’s representatives have strongly denied the alleged assault. His media manager, Mr. Kunle Rasheed, said the incident never happened and has denied all the allegations being leveled at his boss.
It was claimed that KWMAM1 and band members had no involvement in any violence that may have occurred at the event.
It was added that anything that might have happened to MC Murphy had absolutely nothing to do with K1.
