The Nigerian hip-hop artist, Olamide Adedeji, popularly known as Olamide has finally released his long awaited album, ‘Carpe Diem’ to global listeners in the early minutes of 8 October 2020.
The title of the album ‘Carpe Diem’ is a Latin expression for “seize the day”. It was first used by the Romanian poet, Horace, in the Book 1 of his Odes, written in 23 BC.
The 12 songs 38 minutes LP has already generated a lot of buzz on social media, especially Twitter.
A Twitter user with the handle @semako_pr called out to music fans, “Wake up and listen to #CarpeDiem. Olamide has done it again!!!”
In reference to the global distribution of the album by Empire Distribution, a Twitter user, @samiaat_, noted that, “This ain’t Idumota abi Agege. Call Olamide a local rapper one more time and see what’s gonna hit you”.
A verified Twitter account with the @iamOkon handle excitedly extolled the Nigerian artist on the success of the album. According to the Twitter user, “Olamide’s level of consistency, ability to adapt and his versatility is unmatched. You can tell he took his time to cook and serve #CarpeDiem. Truly Baddo na Baba. Top notch project”.
“Olamide has changed the narrative for ghetto youths”, @FordYBNL claimed. He went on to proclaim him “The street messiah”.
Talking about the album, Olamide revealed that, “The project is a reflection of my mind, and also the current sound brewing underground in Nigeria”.
The album also features Fireboy DML, Omah Lay, Bella Shmurda, Phyno, Bad Boy Timz and Peruzzi.
