Oludare Olusan, an author at the African Portal disclosed to AgogoAyonews.com that names of people have a great impact on one’s life because at the mention of your name one can easily know where you come from.
He highlighted the beauty of Yoruba language and further emphasized that language reflects peoples’ origin and identity.
Mr Olusan pleads with the Yorubas not to abandon their language while edifying foreign languages as this reflects that we are still being enslaved, noting that Yoruba language is one of the most popular languages globally.

He added that all languages are unique in their own ways and there is no difference between Yoruba language and the English language.
He advised parents to encourage their children to speak in their local dialect and desist from the mindset that speaking English language makes one sound educated.
He disclosed he wrote a book about Idioms and Proverbs in Yoruba language and the importance of tribal marks, as his own way of contributing to the preservation of Yoruba language and culture.
He stated that the motive behind this book is to have a proper documentation of Yoruba history in other for posterity sake.
He said: “Many youths today are not even familiar with most of our Yoruba proverbs so they cannot even complete a proverb in Yoruba language. Moreso, once one generation loses the grip of Yoruba language then it is impossible for the language to be transferred to the next generation so that means that the Yoruba language as ceased in that lineage”.
