Plus Size Nigerian comedy Skit maker Oluwaremilekun Faith Fatolu stage-named Auntie Remi says men who approach plus size-women often come for sexual pleasure and not love.
In an exclusive interview with BBC Yoruba, Fatolu revealed that many men who approach plus size women are not naturally attracted to them.
She disclosed that many of them only approach big-busted women to feed their curiosity to know how it feels to be intimate with a plus-size woman and take to their heels after getting what they want.
She said it is a struggle to find her bra size from stores and even vendors on social media.
THE STRUGGLES OF LARGE WOMEN IN NIGERIA
She only gets her bra size by asking her friends abroad to help her purchase the bra, then send or bring it to her in Nigeria but they are usually very expensive.
Ms Fatolu further revealed that in most cases she buys fabrics then gives them to her tailor to make her clothing that will fit her perfectly because readymade clothes in the stores don’t fit.
Ms Fatolu who has been on the plump side from childhood had challenges making friends and even with teachers, which made her lose interest in going to school and later dropped out.
Her parents called people to persuade her to return to school but she was rather embarrassed and became withdrawn.
She said she can only say this out now because she is now an adult and for other parents who might find themselves in this situation to know how to deal with the issue better.
At a point, the stigma made her emotional as she struggled to socialise. She said many people could not maximise their talents or actualise their dreams because of the traumatic stigma that trails their unusual body size, while some resorted to suicide.
She profusely appreciates her close friends who never looked down on her and gave her the confidence to do some things she wouldn’t have done own on her own.
