Original Owner of “Odun Nlo Sopin” – Evergreen Yoruba December Song Revealed

Mrs. Deborah Adebola Fasoyin is a veteran gospel singer and leader of the popular CAC Good Women Choir, Ibadan, a group that became popular in the late 70s, 80s, and 90s across the South-West based in Ibadan.

Mrs. Fasoyin became well known in 1979 when her group released a popular song titled ‘Odun Nlo Sopin’, which became an instant hit.

After 40 years, Mrs. Fasoyin Disclosed that songs make her happy and she is grateful to God for passing such a strong message through her and also to win souls For God all over the world.

Mrs. Fasoyin revealed that she is not the original composer of the evergreen song ‘Odun Nlo
Sopin’ the song is owned by Christ Apostolic Church (CAC). She further explained that the church sings the song in all church services when the year is about to end from the month of September. Mama Fasoyin said she and her group CAC Good Women Choir only added two verses to the song to make it fuller.

The 80-year-old legendary gospel singer who prefers to be called sweet sixteen disclosed that she gets inspiration to sing from the word of God. Also, Mama is not the sole-composer of all their songs because they have a group and the choir has released 25 albums. Whenever they want to record a song in the studio, prior to that time, each one of them will have to pray and do personal Bible study then come back with what the Holy Spirit ministers to them during that period. That is why their songs are mostly based on the word of God.

Mama confirmed that many of their songs have healed people who sang them with faith.
Sweet sixteen added that she decided to make Igbo and Hausa versions of their iconic song, Odun Nlo Sopin, because it should not be limited to Yoruba language alone. The song now has Igbo and Hausa version and it was released on September 19, 2020.

Mrs. Deborah Adebola Fasoyin

Mama sang with the DayStar Centre Choir in 2014 and it was a big hit. She wishes to sing alongside Evangelist Bola Are, Dunni Olanrewaju, and because they have not deviated from their calling and Joseph Adebayo Adelakun (Baba Ayewa) She added that these legends are still winning souls into the kingdom of God.
