Sunday Igboho, a popular Yoruba warlord and mercenary has refused to sympathize with Pastor Adeboye over the death of his son, saying the General overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) is not a pro-Yoruba nation – an agitation for the independence of the Yoruba people from the country, Nigeria.
When a man who appeared with him on a digital broadcast of Facebook suggested they pass a condolence message to Daddy GO (as pastor Adeboye is fondly called), Igboho said his mission is not religious and that Pastor Adeboye had not mobilised his millions of members to support the agitation for self-determination that a section of the Yoruba people is pursuing.
Igboho added that despite the fact that Pst. Adeboye has a large number of congregations, which affords him to use the medium to advise his members to join the Yoruba Nation, instead, he is mute on the issue that concerns the Yorubas, hence there is no need to offer him condolences.
The activist who got infuriated in the broadcast said ‘God himself will judge all the enemies of Yoruba. Anyone who stands against Yoruba from getting to her promise land; may God kill their children, wives, and every member of the families”.
Igboho’s seeming careless and insensitive utterance has attracted wide criticisms among the Yorubas. Many rebuke him for being rude and insensitive. Others said he may not pass condolence yet he should not have uttered insensitive words.
Igboho also mentioned that many elders of Yoruba land don’t care about the sufferings of the Yorubas, as the Fulanis kidnap, kill, maim and collect huge ransom from victims and their families.
