The Senior Shepherd-in-Charge of the Celestial Church of Christ, Genesis Global, Prophet Israel Ogundipe who gained his freedom recently recounted his ordeal while in prison.
Genesis said that the day of his arrest was a memorable day for him as it was his daughter’s birthday. He said they were also preparing for their church’s annual harvest and also looking forward to Christmas and New year celebrations.
He explained that prison is not a place to be as one cannot get what they want at any time or even see their family, hence many have become suicidal for being convicted for an offense that they did not commit.
Ogundipe added that it took the grace of God for him to realize that God kept him in there for a purpose.
He added that: “Many people are convicted and they cannot afford a lawyer, some convicts’ families don’t even know that they are in the prison”.
In an interview with BBC News Yoruba, Ogundipe spoke about a man that imprisoned for eleven years but he prophecied that the man will be released before he leaves which eventually happened just as he said it will.
Genesis revealed that the second time he broke down emotionally was when he attended a church service there at the prison, then a man thanked God for sending them a man of God because Pastors no longer come to visit them at the prison to share the word of God due to Covid-19. This made him realize that its the will of God for him to be there.
Some of the works of God Genesis did while he was in the prison were healing the sick and praying with many prisoners.
He stated that he built ‘Ile-Anu’(Mercy Ground) where people go to pray daily. All these made him look beyond the troubles he was going through as there were many who had worse problems than he does while he was looking up to God for help as well.
Genesis was supposed to be imprisoned for two years but he was convicted for four months. He made it known that he was not released because he was sick.
He said his case was at the court of appeal when his lawyer was able to prove that the first verdict was to be questioned because he was sentenced to two years imprisonment and also told to refund the lady in question. This was the reason he was granted bail as the verdict was ‘fishy’
