NSCDC FOILS VANDALS ATTEMPT IN OGUN

By Dyke Ogbonnaya

The men of the Anti-Vandal Squad of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun State Command Headquarters, Abeokuta, had intercepted Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), otherwise called “petroleum” enveloped in sacks and numbering over 300 with each sack containing approximately close to 100 litres each and looted from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Right of Way, along Ganwun in Wawa tent in Ifo South (Akute) Local Government Area of the State recently.

In a release issued and signed by the Public Relations Manager of the NSCDC, Ogun State Command Headquarters, Mr. Dyke Ogbonnaya, for the command, he reiterated the die-hard attitude and syndrome of these unrepentant criminals and the many travails of the Corps to continually deter them from bastardising our common resources.
Meanwhile, there had been a long silence in the activities of these vandals with the recent modalities put in place by the joint task force manning the stretch of the ROW across Ogun State particularly the recent re-strategisation of the Corps by its State Commandant, Mr. Hammed Abodunrin.
The team also recovered a white ford bus with Lagos number plate: KTU 607-XK also laced with several 50 litres of PMS which was also abandoned by the vandals now at large.
According to the State Commandant, “this success was made possible through a distress call received by the men of the special Anti-Vandal unit, Ogun NSCDC and their prompt response which led to the abandonment of these booties by the would-be perpetrators”.
While addressing newsmen during the on-the-spot assessment tour, Abodunrin reiterated that “the Corps will always be willing to maintain a 24-hour monitoring and surveillance of the NNPC Right of Way in Ogun State warning unrepentant vandals to steer clear of the pipelines to avoid facing the full wrath of the law”.
The Corps through its head of operations had appropriately informed the management of the overseeing agency, the NNPC and promises to intensify investigations to trace the perpetrators of this untoward act thereby bringing them justice.
Abodunrin emphasised the need for all to be vigilant and watchful while also advising the vandals to be mindful of the whole stretch of the NNPC pipelines across the States of the federation.
